Bruno Fernandes wants to stay at Manchester United and it’s ‘just a question of time’ before he signs a new deal at the club, despite turning down their last offer of a renewal.

The playmaker has been sensational since joining the Red Devils in a £47million deal from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, scoring 47 goals and providing 34 assists in 106 games.

United are keen to tie Fernandes down to a new deal, even though he still has three years to run on his contract at the club – with the option of a further 12 months.

The club want to reward Fernandes for his form and to improve his salary, which – at just over £100,000-a-week – is at the lower end for those within the first team.

But it emerged earlier this week that Fernandes’ representatives shelved negotiations after rejecting the club’s opening offer.

It sparked fears that Fernandes was contemplating his future at the club, particularly at a time when the side are struggling and looking unlikely to finish in the top four.
But the Daily Mail claim that Fernandes is relaxed about his future and his representatives insist it’s ‘just a question of time’ before he agrees a new deal.

What’s clear is that Fernandes wants improved terms that puts him closer to the likes of David De Gea, Paul Pogba and Cristiano Ronaldo as one of the squad’s top earners.

He doubled his wages after joining the club from Sporting but his stock has risen significantly since and he wants terms that reflect his status in the side.
