Dean Henderson threatens to quit Manchester United amid interest from Chelsea and Tottenham

Manchester United star Dean Henderson has told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he will seek to leave the club this summer if he is not installed as first choice goalkeeper next term.

The England international returned to Old Trafford last summer after an impressive two-year loan spell with Sheffield United but David De Gea has retained his place as first choice.

Henderson has mainly been used in the FA Cup and in European competition but the 24-year-old is not satisfied and believes he is worthy of more opportunities in the Premier League.

The ambitious stopper has impressed when given the opportunity this term and the Manchester Evening News claim Henderson has made his frustrations clear to Solskjaer.

It’s claimed Henderson has told the Norwegian that he is deserving of more chances in the Premier League and if he’s not made no.1 next season he will attempt to leave the club in the summer transfer window.
Henderson signed a new five-year deal last summer, despite attracting interest from Chelsea and Tottenham.

Frank Lampard was keen to sign a replacement for Kepa but United couldn’t countenance selling to a direct rival.

United value Henderson at around £40m and Spurs could be another viable destination, with Jose Mourinho reportedly looking to replace the error-prone Hugo Lloris.

De Gea’s form has improved this term compared to last season but the Spaniard’s recent form has been called into question after two costly mistakes in a 3-3 draw against Everton earlier this month.

The former Atletico Madrid stopper is United’s top earner on £350,000-a-week and few clubs in the world could afford to match his wages should United opt to sell this summer, meaning the club could be forced to cover some of his salary to get him off the books.
